Inako, dressed up in a furisode, and Kiha elope with grace, shouldering the weight of their betrothal gifts but doing so with admirable confidence. Kikou’s strength in revealing their escape destination and her big-sisterly vibe seem to be the core of this story. The scene where they glide through Lake Biwa on the electric motorboat is beautifully animated by Momiji, giving off a soothing, Ghibli-esque vibe. It’s funny how people might question whether it’s really an elopement, but I hope the two continue at their own pace. I’m really looking forward to what happens next!
