Episode 6

Episode 6 is a music episode even without the OP, and I got totally drawn in by the gorgeous background art. The band scenes have that classic Kyoto Animation feel, but with death metal thrown in, and the way the热血 (hot-blooded) Showa animation style mixes with the comedy is just perfect. I also love how it’s packed with little details—like bicycle power generation, the meaning behind taking off clothes, and the etymology of Denki Chion—keeping things from getting boring. The main plot might not move forward much, but the Ukiyobanare ED made the world feel a bit bigger. I can’t wait to see the next episode and enjoy that unique balance of music and comedy while watching the girls of Meiji Shinsei grow.
