Episode 5 takes a sharp turn from last time’s dark, obsessive love to full-on comedy, and Kate’s ambiguous feelings—somewhere between friendship and love—are so achingly sweet. The idea that electric signals can act like a love potion feels refreshingly real rather than just brainwashing, making me totally buy that fujoshi existed back in the Meiji and Taiko eras. The details, like the photos on the desk and the anpan exchange, are so humid and charged with emotion. The show’s atmosphere, freely drifting between yuri and BL vibes, is just perfect. Plus, the unique OP animation each episode is lovely, and Ineko’s endearing expression with her eyes still out of place is just precious. With its quirky inventions woven into the history of electricity, I’m so excited to see how the proof of love will play out next episode!
