In this village, your manner of death is decided from the start. It’s a creepy custom, but it also feels kind of freeing to know exactly what’s coming. Because she’d been told her fate since she was little, her calm response to the police was surprisingly touching and a bit poignant. Even though she was destined to die by an axe, the idea that hanging could count as 'death by someone else's hand' made sense. Still, that simple line, 'Be nice to her,' stuck with me. In the end, it felt like she finally took hold of her own life—maybe because knowing how it ends makes you appreciate the journey more. Also, everyone’s been raving about this season’s Yami Karaoke ED being the best, and its recurring presence really feels true to the spirit of Yami Shibai.
