On a grand stage worthy of the Shogun's visit, the new Kumanomizu Mizuzuki Festival delivers a passionate performance woven with Sarugaku's animation and silent laughter, leaving us deeply moved by the acting of Kan'ami and his son!
The live performance in Episode 4 really lived up to the hype of it being a grand stage even the Shogun would attend. The vibrant backgrounds and colors of the Sanjōbōmon Palace made me realize all over again that this Sarugaku animation isn't 3D. Kan'ami, who seems aloof at first, has such a heartwarming expression as he quietly watches his son grow. And Shogun Yoshimitsu, despite his deep knowledge of culture, throws a bloody tantrum—what a complex charm! The choice to mute the laughter scenes was also refreshing, and my heart squeezed when Jūgorō's answer was left up to everyone.
