Episode 12
"So embarrassing~! It’s like a Showa-era youth drama," they laughed, but that stair-jumping ending is definitely the moment that stuck with me.
Everyone's Reactions
Part 1 of Episode 12 has wrapped up! The ending where Jan and Konagi jump on the dome stairs was so cool. I heard the editor mentioned it felt like a '40s Showa youth drama, and when I found out Seijo-san actually drew it with that vibe in mind, it just made it feel even more youthful and awesome. About those text overlays: Torkaya added them as a gag, but TV Tokyo apparently ordered them to be in every episode. Since they fit the world-building so well, I ended up looking forward to them each time. I really loved how the cooking competition had this vibe where ethics were practically non-existent (lol) — no, I mean it, I genuinely liked it. Now that I know the judging structure was a three-step process: "surprise with ingredients → surprise with technique → surprise with taste," it all makes perfect sense why Kiri and Yang lost while Jan dominated. Thanks to the editor pointing out the core theme early on, the competition’s focus was clear and easy for us viewers to follow. It’s a bit sad there wasn’t a Season 2 announcement yet, but since we’ve caught up to Volume 5 of the manga, there’s plenty more room to go. Plus, it feels like Jan will reunite with Yang soon. Just imagining what kind of cooking battles are next is making me hungry already.
