Basmark’s end has finally begun. I thought we were heading for a classic one-on-one duel with the whole castle exploding, but it turns out Clan’s army won almost unscathed! After all that buildup to a full-scale war, the ending felt a bit underwhelming. What’s bothering me is that he was beheaded in a public execution rather than committing suicide by poison. They probably wanted to clearly assign war responsibility, but reading between the lines, I got this mixed feeling of "was this really the right call?" I totally get why everyone says Queen Clan’s smile is so unsettling. The comments saying Basmark seemed more trustworthy really resonated with me. Arus seems to be getting praised at the celebration too, and I hope he gets properly scolded by Licia afterward. Arus becoming emperor and creating a peaceful nation is a huge deal, but thinking about how much more intense warfare might lie ahead makes me worry. Hopefully, everything goes smoothly without anyone being left behind...
