The Ace Attorney-style parody unfolding in the stormy cave, along with Kyon’s adorable efforts to protect Haruhi, is just too much! Combined with the 18+ cut scenes, it leaves you with that same intense, finale-like afterglow.
I finally started to see the connections now that I realized episode 8 is the second half of the Island Syndrome arc! Goryu’s slightly delayed arrival in the storm is so cute, especially with his somewhat lax crisis management. Kyon falling to protect Haruhi fits the Ace Attorney vibe perfectly, and the synergy between the visuals and music was top-notch. Plus, the theory that 'Someday in the Rain' might actually be the series finale really blew my mind. With the mysteries of the enclosed space still lingering and that certain someone from the rainy days on my mind, I can’t wait to see what happens next!
