The twist about how they helped each other out eight years ago over a customer complaint, only to realize they’d mostly forgotten about it, is just the kind of episode I love. Seeing Yamada, who usually has a 'zero smile' face, shed tears and show her genuine smile in response to Sasaki’s words is so heartwarming, like the smoky old man is protecting them with nuclear-level power. Sasaki was panicking a bit, thinking she might have to quit smoking because her urine protein levels were dangerously high, but it turns out to be a misdiagnosis, so their smoking break dates can continue. Sasaki’s line, 'If you do it because you love it, you’ll catch up on everything you need,' feels like it’s wrapping their relationship in such a warm glow. I’m really looking forward to seeing them spin off new daily moments while puffing away behind the supermarket next time.
