Episode 4
"Nobody's around" means the whole apartment building is basically my room! The sheer scale of it all stirs things up in episode 4...
Everyone's Reactions
So 'nobody's around' actually meant the entire apartment building was his own personal space. It’s such a shame that detail got cut from the anime; it would’ve been even cooler if they’d added a subtitle to clarify such an exaggerated claim. Amamiya’s journey from being lonely and domestic, to crumbling under the despair of the PSYREN world, then suddenly meeting Agahi Ryu and getting all worked up—it’s so cute and pitiful that you just want to protect her. I totally get the feeling of people who keep posting 'It's a nice day today, but no one's around' three times in a row. It’s kind of bittersweet watching those everyday conversational lines get stripped away. And thanks to Asako Murase’s performance as Van-kun! His passionate voice really comes through every time, so I feel reassured and ready for the next episode. Also, are public phones still a thing? It brings up both nostalgia and that 'Wait, they still exist?' feeling. It really captures that early PSYREN vibe.
