I totally agree that the old man is so cute you'd want to craft him out of felt. His fluffy texture seems to leap off the screen, making it super healing just to watch. Hearing that the coloring isn't your standard anime style but rather a tribute to picture books makes total sense. That unique warmth really does come from that approach. Now that I remember the name of Mori's Bakery, it makes sense that their shop is located pretty deep in the mountains. It’s easy to see why they take so many risks by going there, but it’s also a bit scary that if they stay hidden away, they might just get mistaken for regular bread and end up on someone’s dinner table. It was nice to see the foreshadowing properly paid off. Plus, his 'yucky' face expression is so endearing—it’s at a level where all three family members (ages 20, 45, and 47) find it amusing.
