Episode 12
"It's not a curse, it's a vow." — That one line and Satsuya's "I command you"... my heart was ripped out, and I burst into tears!
Everyone's Reactions
The moment she said, 'It's not a curse, this is a vow,' my chest just tightened up. She had always spoken so strongly about wanting to protect him, yet in the end, Ash herself knelt down and said, 'Please let me protect you.' Watching that made me cry right along with her. Satsuya’s single word of command wrapped everything up with such weight; I literally held my breath until the moment of their engagement. Unlike Lelouch and Suzaku, who pushed through Zero Requiem without breaking their Geas, here they deliberately broke it to form a formal master-servant contract, which gave it a completely different emotional temperature. I heard that people who saw it in theaters were sniffling in the lobby, silently lining up for goods, and I totally related to that vibe. I completely get the feeling of the key animator who said, 'I'm so glad Ash is alive!' Even if you accept this ending as 'settling the debt,' you still end up wanting to see them again.
