Episode 5

The Sunday morning vibe where only Bolero plays is just too much... Director Hosoda’s depiction of Agumon’s Baby Flame feels like a classic monster movie, and it’s killing me.

Everyone's Reactions

Hosoda’s direction really makes the summer scenes stand out in a league of their own; you get this urge to watch it even if it means interrupting your relay race broadcast. The world where only Bolero plays, the sight of the Ferris wheel still standing in Odaiba—it all layers up and brings on that sweet wave of nostalgia. Hikari’s mysterious entrance, the time difference between the Digital World and the real world, and the slight spoilers from the narration are all so wonderfully quirky. When Taichi hears his mom’s voice and goes back to being a fifth-grader, I can’t help but tear up, realizing how much everyone was drifting apart even without him. Just hearing that the next episode is about Pumpkinmon and Gatomon makes my heart squeeze, though it’s a bit of a bummer they’re airing a week off.
