I was genuinely surprised to see Patamon evolve into Angemon from a Digi-Egg. It’s hard to believe that tiny, round little guy turned out like this; he’s so earnest it makes your heart squeeze. It’s actually a pretty rare setup for someone other than the main duo to take down Devimon, the chapter boss of the File Island arc. Given how special Takeru and Angemon’s roles were in the original series, it really made me appreciate their dynamic all over again. Even though Leomon was brainwashed with a ton of Dark Gears, he still had that tough-guy vibe, and his brothers rushing to his side looked incredibly cool. Devimon, who retained some of her own will even after being absorbed, seemed surprisingly gentle, didn’t she? The pacing picked up right away as we dove into the MetalGreymon arc, and I couldn’t stop cheering for Mega Blast. Jou and Sora haven’t joined up yet, but I’m dying to see what happens next!
