Miyata's Izumo pilgrimage looked so much fun, I got swept up from the soy sauce licking to that anime-respecting finale!

Miyata heading off to Izumo while the anime OP played had me hyped from the very start. The ending was such a nice nod to anime, it basically felt like episode 13 of ZatsuTabi itself. With archival footage and expert commentary, I really loved how it dove deep into the pilgrimage aspect. The timeline for the old Taisha Station was super interesting—renovated in the manga but under construction in the anime, and now fully reopened. I’m kinda jealous that we can enjoy the crisp sound of hard tickets now! Miyata’s otaku-like gestures while licking soy sauce were so cute; it really felt like she was embodying the feelings of fans visiting the locations. I heard the nationwide broadcast for what was originally a Chugoku region exclusive happened because fans and Shimane residents spoke up, so I’m happy we got to experience this milestone in its fifth year.
