The Hiroshima-Onomichi school trip arc was so fun—it captured that wonderfully awkward, 'this totally happens in real life' vibe with things like the Baba-nuki (oldest card) tournament and teachers on patrol. Gen and Ito end up kissing while pretending to sleep in their futons, which is such a classic accidental moment. It’s complicated, though; because she dislikes Gen, she can’t help overthinking whether it was really that great. The staff member mentioned how hard it is to pick highlights with the Gen rush showing no signs of slowing down, which makes you realize Gen is basically the heart of this series—it’s kind of hilarious. With everything from okonomiyaki to the bus guide, the Hiroshima feel is strong, and these slice-of-life school trip episodes are just so cozy. I’m really looking forward to episode 12 next week; I can’t take my eyes off what happens next!
