Looking at the side dishes in Satsuki's bento, you can't help but think, "Yep, that's so her." Since she's handling chores and looking after her little sister while Mom is away, her emotional breakdown feels so natural. I found it extra sweet to know that Totoro actually says "cute~" in the storyboard when he looks at Satsuki. And the Catbus seats adjusting to your height? It's fantasy, but with such a thoughtful, realistic touch. I really want to see Totoro and the others playing the ocarina in that green room at the base of the camphor tree next!
