When Nausicaa’s chest wound bursts and she realizes she’s done for, it feels like your own heart is being squeezed tight—so heartbreaking. Watching the baby Woomy gently pull away its feelers really conveys how much they didn’t want to part, and you can’t help getting teary-eyed. The guitar melody, inspired by the Woomy’s calls, has that warm, Togashi-esque charm that just feels so right. It’s also touching to hear that the image of her mother has always lingered in Miyazaki’s mind, adding a touch of loneliness to the strength behind Nausicaa. With Totoro waiting for Satsuki and Mei next, I’m already looking forward to sinking back into that heartwarming world.
