The Holy Maiden Trials have turned into this massive tournament event, and it felt like I was just sitting in the audience cheering them on. Seeing her heal the injured and purify all that mud while still holding back? It’s so unconscious of her that it actually makes my heart ache a little. Plus, even though there are people who didn’t get fully healed, everyone is just like, 'Might as well fix them too,' which hits home hard. The scenes where Gilbert sneers at her or her husband loses his mind were so embarrassingly awkward I could feel the cringe myself. With Monica getting sentenced to life imprisonment and all, there’s a slightly bittersweet vibe to this entertainment spectacle disguised as the Holy Maiden Trials.
