In the airy, open spaces of the floating castle, Bell finally gets to kick back and relax. This episode is packed with that satisfying sense of resolution and a nostalgic, Nausicaa-esque vibe!
Floating castles always remind me of Laputa and Nausicaa, but this one has a unique, Dragon Quest-like warmth to it. It was such a relief to see Bell (Foguma) finally get released from her duties via the castle's announcement system. The rest of the folks inside were suffering, so it was great to see the village chief step in and help out. It feels like history itself shifted in just this one day with the extinction of the Divine Race and the rusting of the Hero's Sword—really touching stuff. Plus, the contrast between the simple potato-only meals and the beast-loving Second Unit adds such a fun, laid-back charm. I'm really looking forward to more slice-of-life moments in the village as we head toward the finale.
