Episode 4

Jowi's side story gets such heartfelt psychological depth... and the sheer pressure of Lord Luca, who can overpower even those with the power of the Crest!

Everyone's Reactions

It’s so nice to see Jowi’s perspective portrayed with such care. The detailed psychological descriptions really hit home, especially in the scene where he’s physically subdued by Lord Luca despite having the Crest’s power—it clearly shows the gap in their strength and brings tears to your eyes. The timeline jump of 10 years from "Leave this to me, go on ahead" and that line, "We probably won’t meet again," were already tough in the original work, but they hit even harder in the anime. The title "Crossroads" perfectly captures the mood of this episode, and the end card illustration is beautiful, leaving you with a sense of nostalgia. Amidst the political conversations about whether they’re thinking about the city, war, or laws, there’s that wonderfully realistic line, "Oh well. Nobody really wants to go to war anyway," which made me chuckle. The official message, "Jowi, I’ll be waiting," is so bittersweet. I’m looking forward to next episode!
