The distance between Shikimota and Yamagata comes alive through expressive hand animations, and Takako Shimura’s signature gal aesthetic totally wins over the live-tweeting crowd!
In Episode 4, checking the official relationship chart is so reassuring—it clearly shows the connections between Shikimota, Yamagata, and the Tanabata sisters. The buzz around 'Awashima’s Gals' is huge, and their visuals really feel like something Takako Shimura would create. They might look a bit intimidating to otaku at first glance, but they seem to be having so much fun, and that contrast is just adorable! The hand animation is amazing; I couldn’t help but get drawn in by their eloquent finger movements. I also love how the moon is drawn small, giving the series its characteristic quiet atmosphere. The talk about Elizabeth’s theater performance really conveys the passion of that era, and even as someone who isn’t a huge theater fan, I found myself getting excited. The live-tweeters’ viewing setup and the mixi discussions feel so nostalgic, and the scene where the couple steps on each other’s handkerchiefs, along with the connection to Nakamura-kun, warms the heart. The transition from shoujo-ai theater to settling into Awashima’s otaku world is done so skillfully. I can’t wait for the next episode!
